Local Green Deals (LGDs)

Governing the Green Transition
Through Collaboration

What is a Local Green Deal?

A Local Green Deal (LGD) is a participatory governance framework that translates the high-level goals of the European Green Deal into actionable, local reality. In the context of SpurUP, LGDs will serve as the “glue” that binds municipal authorities, industrial leaders, and citizens to a shared climate-neutral roadmap.

Our Vision for Integrated Governance

SpurUP will establish LGDs in our Living Labs and Replication sites to overcome fragmented policy-making.

Ensure that industrial decarbonization and urban planning are not at odds.

Formalize agreements between the public and private sectors to reduce GHG emissions.

Use Social Life Cycle Assessments (S-LCA) to ensure that the transition is fair and inclusive for all community members.
